KNOW WHERE TO FIND YOUR CAR TYRE SIZES IN JUST 3 STEPS

Finding the right tyre size for your vehicle tyres begins with a basic step of knowing where the manufacturer locates them around your car. This simple skill comes handy when you need tyre replacement.

When looking for the right specification for your car, check the following places:

1. TYRE PLACARD STICKERS

In 1973, it became the standard practices for automakers to attach tyre placard stickers to their various car models and segments. The tyre placard contains useful information about the car tyre size for the front and rear wheels, the rim size, recommended pressure gauge in a normal condition, and the spare tyres. The placard can be found by the driver's door jam that is the B pillar of your car, some automakers also put the sticker in the glove box, fuel flap and sometimes under the bonnet. Check out any of this place to locate the right tyre sizes for your car.

2. CAR OWNERS MANUAL

Another place to find out the right tyre sizes for your car is in the manual. Some manuals can also be accessed via the Internet by searching the make, model, and year. Check your manual for the right tyre specification for your car.

3. TYRE SIDEWALLS

Sidewalls are filled with useful information written in alphernumeric codes about the brand's name, model, traction, temperature and treadwear rating, tyre size, service description, manufacturing week and year, etc. To find the tyre size check for a row of a three digits follow by a forward slash, another two digits follow (most times) with letter R then another set of two digits. For examples, 245/40R18 or 195/65R15. This will give you a group of 7 digits, one letter and one special character.

If you are not the first owner of your car then the most reliable places to get the right information about your tyre recommendation is from tyre placard stickers and owners manual. Sometimes, some used cars have tyres that are different from the manufacturer's specifications this can happen because of different reasons. When this is the case you need an expert's advice on what to do when you need new tyres.
